China’s major high-energy consumption products, the growth rate has slowed significantly

Associated with fluctuations in domestic and international macroeconomic situation, Chinese energy demand has been significant changes in the products of high energy consumption growth rate has slowed significantly, iron and steel, cement, non-ferrous metals and other products may have reached its peak production.

From the National Bureau of Statistics data show that in August this year, China’s pig iron, steel and other energy products declined year-on-year; into the September decline further, were 6.1 percent and 5.5 percent. At the same time, crude steel, plastics, chemical fiber, caustic soda, paper products, high-energy production is also negative growth in the same period last year, of which crude steel and plastics dropped 9.1 percent and 8.4 percent.

Cement, glass, automobile production, although not yet a negative growth, but eight or nine months of production, year-on-year increase was only 3-4%.

By contrast, since the second half of China’s industrial growth slowed down significantly. August and September, the industrial added value growth rate than the ring fell 1.9 and 1.4 percentage points.

For a long time, power generation, petrochemical, iron and steel, nonferrous metals, chemicals, building materials industries such as energy sector in China accounts for about half of the total energy consumption. In the slowing of domestic and foreign markets, as well as energy-saving measures to reduce emissions under the dual pressures of high energy-consuming products, a decline in production and will directly affect the demand for energy.

Electricity consumption, for example, over the years, the total industrial power consumption accounted for more than 70, and iron and steel, nonferrous metals, chemicals, building materials and other industries also accounted for one-third of the total electricity consumption. In March this year, an increase of national power consumption all the way down from March’s 14.4 percent drop in September’s 5.7 percent. To adapt, in August, power generation equipment production over the years there have been a rare negative growth, up 10.7 percent year-on-year decline.
